Jessie's passion for supporting families stemmed from experiencing birth and realizing how much of a benefit a non-family support person was. That’s when she decided to dive deeper into the birth work pool and began training with Birth Arts International. Jessie is currently a certified birth doula, certified postpartum doula, certified breastfeeding educator, and in-training for childbirth education and to be a midwife's assistant. She is also certified in stillbirth as a birth and bereavement doula. Jessie felt that taking all of these courses would help provide well-rounded support for her clients by giving different perspectives and more opportunities to learn.
Jessie is married to Brad and has one daughter, Sylvana, but has served as a surrogate for 3 (maybe 4) lucky families. She has a B.A. from SMWC in music on clarinet and saxophone. When not at appointments with clients she plays with several community groups in Terre Haute, Brazil, and other cities. She served in the Army National Guard for 7 years, including a 9-month deployment to Iraq. Hobbies include to cooking, gardening, camping, playing card and table-top games, as well as spending time with family and friends. She is the founder of Crowning Achievement Birth Services.

Meet Doula Katie Sparke! Katie is the wife of Jacob and mother of three (one hospital and two home births) Owen, Oliver, and Oakley. In her spare time Katie enjoys hiking, volunteering, getting involved in moms groups and bible studies. She also enjoys documentaries (The Business of Being Born was a game changer!) and is a wishful minimalist. Labor of Love Midwifery is sad to say Katie has relocated to Alaska but we are holding a spot for her here when she returns!
